City of Nanaimo targets Sunday morning to reconsider Boil Water Advisory

The City of Nanaimo now says the earliest a Boil Water Advisory could be lifted is Sunday, December 14th.

The City got encouraging test results back Saturday that indicate no issues with bacterial contamination and the turbidity levels are dropping.  If it remains low on Sunday morning the City could move to lift the advisory.

Bill Sims is Nanaimo’s Manger of Water Resources.

He says they won’t get the results back until Saturday afternoon. Sims says water users should boil their drinking water for one minute at a rolling boil. He says this is only the third time the City has had to issue a Boil Water Advisory. He says there’s a risk that drinking the water before boiling it could may you sick.

He says they don’t know when the advisory will be lifted, but when it is, they’ll update the City’s website, send out notifications through social media and through the City’s Emergency Call Alert System.
