30 vehicles broken into since Dec 1 in Nanaimo

Thefts from vehicles have been rampant in Nanaimo this month. Nanaimo RCMP say about 30 have been broken into since December 1.

RCMP Constable O’Brien older model vehicles seem to be easy targets.

He says the Townsite Rd, University Heights, upper Harewood and North Nanaimo areas have been hit hardest.

O’Brien says it doesn’t take much to attract a thief in Nanaimo. He says you should keep everything out of sight so thieves have no reason to break into your car.

If you see someone acting suspicious in your neighbourhood, call the RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345. If you see a vehicle being broken into, call 9-1-1 because it’s a crime in progress.
