Sunshine Coast RCMP say it’s lucky nobody was hurt after a dangerous incident on Highway 101.
It happened last week, but the details have just been released.
RCMP say a car was spotted going north in the southbound lanes near Mason Road in Sechelt. Drivers who’d managed to avoid head-on crashes with the errant vehicle told police the windshield was completely fogged over, and the driver had switched off the headlights.
The car kept going in the wrong lane for about 4 kilometers, before the driver pulled over at Redrooffs Road.
Police say the elderly driver told officers she’d “gone blind” and was looking for a safe place to pull over.
She’s been ticketed for several offenses and told not to drive until further notice. RCMP say they’re also asking for a medical review of the woman’s license.
