Break-in at Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association Office

The Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association is picking up the pieces after a break-in caused some major damage to their office. It happened early Saturday morning between 2:00am and 3:00am.

Roberta Bortolotto, President of Association, says their office is connected to the Nanaimo Ice Centre, so the suspects broke into the office, and used tools like a metal grinder to bust through the drywall and cut through the steel door to the arena itself.

Bortolotto says the thieves took an envelope of cash, but their computers were left untouched. The damage to the office is estimated at around $2000.

Nanaimo RCMP are looking for two suspects seen on security camera footage. One has a stocky build and was wearing a dark hoodie, grey sweatpants and a backpack. The other had a thinner build and was wearing a dark hoodie, black jacket, jeans and a backpack. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
