Mayoral candidates making final campaign push in Nanaimo

Municipal candidates are making a final push to get their message out to voters before Saturday’s election. In Nanaimo, there are 10 candidates vying for mayor.

Jim Routledge, who also ran in 2011, says he’s dissatisfied with the current council. He says the City needs to strike a balance between being run like a business, and a public service.

Al Thompson says Nanaimo needs “an ordinary everyday common working man” at the helm. He also identifies job creation as a priority for the city, and says working people have to be part of the conversation.

Former mayor Gary Korpan says he wants to cut the spending at City Hall, an initiate a core review. He says it’s important for people to have their say at the ballot box.

The other seven candidates running for mayor in Nanaimo are Kendall Csak, Alisha Neumann-Ladret, Brunie Brunie, Roger McKinnon, Bill Holdom, Bill McKay and Incumbent John Ruttan.
