Dakota Ridge and Mount Washington finally seeing some snow

Area skiers are getting their wish; at least a little.

All this rain has been falling as snow at Dakota Ridge on the Sunshine Coast and Mount Washington on the North Island.

Sunshine Coast Regional District Parks Planner Sam Adams says with 30 centimeters on the ground they’re OK for a limited opening tomorrow.

Adams says they’re even finding a silver lining in the thin layer of ice that built up before the snow started.

At Mount Washington the Nordic trails and the tube park will open Saturday, but the resort’s Brent Curtain says downhill is still on hold until there’s more snow.

The hope is for continued sub-zero temperatures at elevation as another rainy system moves through southern BC.
