All 4 Gabriola Islands Trust candidates agree; no bridge
A possible bridge has been a hot topic for Gabriola Islanders lately, but it doesn’t seem to be dividing the four candidates running to become Islands Trust trustees.
Gabriolans will choose 2 Trustees on November 15th. And they’ll be new faces, as both long-time incumbents are stepping aside.
Chris Bowers says the Islands Trust policy is against fixed links, and she supports that stand.
Peter Philips is also not a supporter of a bridge, which he points out would run counter to Gabriola’s Official Community Plan.
That’s also how Heather Nicholas feels.
And while Melanie Mamoser agrees ferry fares are getting out of hand, she says a bridge isn’t the solution.
The province is currently doing a feasibility study on a bridge.
