Nanaimo RCMP asks for help to stop dog abuse following incident

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for your help to stop dog abuse following a recent incident.

Police say the incident happened in the 6500 block of Aulds Road on Wednesday last week, where a witness reported seeing a man beating a small brown dog.

According to the witness, the man picked up the dog, tossed it like a football across the road, put the dog into a black shopping bag before proceeding to punch it several times.

When the witness confronted him, the man threatened her, leading to the witness calling Animal Control and 9-1-1.

Officers say while they were on the scene within minutes of the call, they couldn’t find the man or the dog.
