The City of Parksville says they’re calling on residents of the community to put applications forward as they look for firefighters.
They say applications will be accepted until Feb. 28 and anyone who values integrity, honesty, selflessness, commitment, courage and hard work should consider applying to be part of the department.
In a media release, Parksville Fire and Rescue says they’re providing a lot in return to the successful applicants to help make a difference in the community.
“We offer an outstanding training program and an opportunity to make an unforgettable difference in people’s lives,” they say. “We offer professional certification, opportunity to serve your community, personal growth, and great benefits.”
They’re having a recruitment open practice on Jan. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m., for those interested as an opportunity to observe a practice and see firsthand what’s involved in training.
In 2024 the department responded to close to 800 calls for service related to fire, rescues, motor vehicle incidents, medical assistance and public service requests.
