Police search for liquor store robber

Nanaimo RCMP say they’re on the lookout for a person they believe is involved in a robbery at the University Liquor store.

Police say the robbery took place yesterday (Dec. 12) around 9:45 p.m. at 520 Fifth Street.

They add employees were allegedly held at knifepoint while the robber demanded money from the cash register, but cameras weren’t able to catch the person since their face was partially covered with a mask.

According to a media release, the robber fled in an unknown direction, but police haven’t been able to determine a location even with the help of Dog Services.

RCMP say they were able to get a brief description from CCTV and have described the suspect as 5 foot 10 inches tall with a medium build and wearing a black hoodie and a dark toque.
