SCRD issues updates for water supply projects this month

As November wraps up soon, the Sunshine Coast Regional District has published updates its water projects.

The projects are focused on increasing the water supply in the region.

For the District of Sechelt, the residential portion of their Water Meter program has been going on for nine months, with over 3,000 water meters installed. The district says the goal is to install over 4,000 meters to help with leak detection in the system.

In the Chapman Water System, district crews are investigating the groundwater to see if they could support the system with either a new groundwater source or lower demands by making dedicated sources for recreational facilities.

They say multiple sites will be drilled, with pump tests finished in Cliff Giker Park, Sechelt airport and Sunshine Coast area. They hope to apply for licenses, design, and permitting of production wells if test results for them are favourable.
