More strong winds coming to Island & Coast tonight

Strong winds are returning to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast tonight.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued three wind warnings for this evening, saying that a strong Pacific frontal system will move over the BC coast, affecting North, West, and East Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, Southern Gulf Islands, and the Central Coast.

They say the system will bring winds up to 70 kilometers per hour, gusting up to 90 to 100 kilometers over areas near the Strait of Georgia. 90-kilometer winds on coastal sections of North Island will gust up to 110, and winds near 80 kilometers will gust up to 100 on the western part of the Island.

Because of these strong winds, objects might be tossed around, tree branches start falling, and power might go out in your home.

For the eastern part of the Island and Sunshine Coast, they ask you to adjust your driving to the changing road conditions, with possible travel disruptions and delays expected.
