Majority of RDN service areas to lift watering restrictions on November 1

Recent rainfall on Vancouver Island is allowing the Regional District of Nanaimo to make a change to watering restrictions.

Starting November 1, all watering restrictions will be lifted in RDN water service areas other than Decourcey and Surfside which will remain at stage four due to operational needs.

Recent rainfall throughout October has helped alleviate drought conditions and reduce the demand for seasonal water use in communities.

Stream flows have been returning to normal levels for this time of year across Eastern Vancouver Island helping ease the drought rating.

Despite the restrictions being lifted, the RDN is asking the public to conserve as much water as possible as drought conditions are starting earlier and lasting longer in recent years.
