RDN invites residents to provide insight on coastal emergencies

The Regional District of Nanaimo says they’re looking to help residents learn more about environmental hazards with a survey about potential threats.

According to the RDN, approximately 125,000 people live near coastal regions which could be affected by flooding, erosion and storms which is why helping everyone to understand how to deal with them has become a top priority.

They add the survey will address key areas such as past experiences with disasters, coastal risks, level of preparedness, and how residents would like to hear about future coastal work.

The district plans to use any information they gather in the survey in their Coastal Risk Assessment, and in plans for future work and engagement.

The RDN says they plan to make the information available in the new year, once all the surveys have been completed and submitted.
