The first phase of road improvements for Highway 19A in Parksville is starting Monday, September 16.
Work begins on Highway 19A and Resort Drive and will be done for easier access for vehicles, bicycles, or on foot traffic.
Construction will include a new 190-metre multi-use pathway which will close the existing northbound onramp from Resort Drive to accommodate the path.
A new right-turn lane at Resort Drive will be added to still allow access to Highway 19A heading northbound.
New signage for directing drivers to Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park and surrounding businesses.
Work takes place Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with traffic being single lane alternating from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during construction periods.
Resort Drive’s onramp into Rathtrevor Beach will close for approximately three weeks and traffic will be rerouted to a short detour via Resort Way.
Drivers may experience delays of up to 10 minutes and work is expected to be completed by November. parksville
