More school spaces on the way for Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools

Some more classroom space is on the way for Wellington Secondary in Nanaimo.

The province announced that the school will get a six-classroom prefabricated addition creating 150 new seats for the school.

Nanaimo Ladysmith School District board chair Greg Keller says that the district is grateful for the province’s continued support for students in their community.

“As B.C.’s population continues to grow, our government is finding the best solutions to get more students into classrooms as quickly as possible,” said Rachna Singh, Minister of Education and Child Care.

This expansion comes as the government has added seats to Dover Bay Secondary and Ecole Hammond Bay Elementary.

The new addition will feature modern classrooms like regular schools and will be energy efficient.
