Traffic Delays expected for Midtown project work this week

There will be traffic disruptions this week because crews work on the Midtown Gateway Project.

The City of Nanaimo says on social media that crews will be working on the construction phase of the project, which aims turn a legacy brownfield site into a neighbourhood gateway through new transportation corridors, a storm water wetland, and better access to Beban Park.

Because of the construction, traffic disruptions will affect Bowen, Northfield, and Boxwood Roads.

Along with the delays, the City adds you can’t do left turns from Northfield onto Boxwood starting Wednesday. Businesses in the area will still be open and accessible.

If you are a commuter, you are asked to avoid the area if possible, obey all traffic signs and traffic control personnel.
