Nanaimo’s annual Reuse Rendezvous is back, and residents are being encouraged to take advantage of the event and help keep useful items out of the landfill.
The annual event is taking place this weekend and city residents are being encouraged to place unwanted toys, sporting goods, furniture, books, bikes and all other items to the curb so others may give them a new life.
According to the city, items should be clearly marked and urges anyone who participates to respect public and private property.
“Don’t block sidewalks or bike paths, and please remove any leftover items from your curb by Monday, July 22,” the city says.
Mayor Leonard Krog says the event provides a great opportunity for those looking for a deal and for those looking to clean up their homes.
“This is a perfect opportunity for residents to declutter, give those items you don’t use anymore a new lease on life this weekend and spare the landfill,” he says. “Be part of the good news and help your fellow citizens.”
Those searching for a bargain are being asked to be extra careful, watch for children and slow down, especially around park areas.
