A woman is in custody after Sunshine Coast RCMP were called to Friendship Park on Teredo Street for an attempted abduction.
According to police, the incident happened on July 11, at 4:40 p.m. after the female suspect was attempting to force a teenage girl to with her, suspecting the young girl was her daughter.
They add it was the actions of bystanders that RCMP were able to act quickly and arrest the woman.
“Other teenagers intervened and prevented the abduction,” police say. “We were on the scene within minutes and the woman was arrested without incident.”
RCMP say they’re recommending charges against the woman, and there is no further risk to the public.
