The Nanaimo Airport got some international recognition this weekend at an awards ceremony in Aventura Florida.
It was run by the Airport Council International and focuses on recognizing industry professionals.
Keith Granbois is the CFO of the Nanaimo Airport and over the weekend he received the ACI North American Financial Professional of the year.
Granbois won the award for the small airport category, alongside the large and medium airport winners from Dallas Fort Worth International and Sacramento International airport.
On his way to the ceremony Granbois was caught in record rain fall and flash flooding.
“I am humbled to be recognized for such a prestigious award and certainly won’t forget this adventure. It’s a reminder that life is all about the journey and not necessarily the destination,” said Granbois.
Granbois is a CPA, a CFE and has been with the airport for 6 years he also launched the first pollinator garden at a Canadian airport.
