Kids thank Sechelt council for making their school safer

Children from West Sechelt Elementary School had a personal message for council earlier this month.

The group, led by parent advisory committee rep Magnus Sandavelt, attended the last meeting in person to give their feedback to road improvements around their school. With a little prompting, they all thanked the mayor and council for improving the roads and crosswalks in the area.

Sandavelt showed council several slides of what the roads and crosswalks were like around the school before, highlighting how they are now much safer for children, with proper lanes and crosswalks, and clarity for drivers.

For example, he showed what Mason Road looked like before and after the upgrades, the road is used frequently by students to access the shoreline.

The students presented council with a large, hand-made thank you card.
