Parksville man's van impounded after rollover

A Parksville man’s van has been impounded after his car ended up on its roof. On Monday, January 6 at 11:00am, the Parksville Fire Department, BC Ambulance Services and the Oceanside RCMP responded to a collision between two vehicles on Highway 19A, in front of the Tim Horton’s restaurant. A van being driven by a 56-year-old Parksville man pulled out of the parking lot directly in front of a car being driven by a 39-year-old Parksville man. The van veered across the highway after the impact and rolled on its roof. The driver of the van and his female passenger, a 65-year-old Parksville woman, had minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Nanaimo General Hospital.

The van driver showed signs of being impaired and refused an RCMP officer’s demand for a breath sample. Along with having his van impounded, the driver was given an Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition.
