Prime Minister Harper stopping in Cowichan Valley as BC tour continues
A Cowichan Valley community group says it thinks there’s a pretty good reason behind the first visit by a Prime Minister to that part of the Island in decades.
Stephen Harper is making 4 stops in the area today, including an invitation only event at the private school Brentwood College.
Parker Jefferson of One Cowichan says it’s all about the new riding boundaries coming into effect for the 2015 election.
Under the realignment Nanaimo – Cowichan will disappear, with everything north of Ladysmith going into one riding and everything south into another.
Environmental groups, meanwhile, say they’re planning at least one protest during the PM’s visit
