Duncan RCMP nab pair accused of stealing cars in Nanaimo

RCMP in Duncan say they’ve nabbed a pair of prolific offenders. Police arrested 22-year-old Jesse Biley and 23-year-old Courtney Therrien on Tuesday night. They also recovered three stolen vehicles, including a 1979 Dodge camper van the pair was living in, along with a ’94 Suzuki Sidekick and a ’97 GEO Tracker.
Duncan RCMP say they’ve have been working with their counterparts in Nanaimo on several recent auto thefts and two of the vehicles were stolen from Nanaimo. The third was taken in Ladysmith. They say Biley has a history of auto theft, including incidents in Oceanside, Nanaimo, Duncan, Victoria, the Interior and the Lower Mainland.
Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien says the pair faces numerous charges including auto theft and possession of stolen property.
O’Brien says Biley and Therrien are the two suspects they’ve been looking for in connection with a big spike in auto thefts in Nanaimo, but they’re not the only ones.
Biley and Therrien were remanded into custody and will be appearing in Duncan Provincial Court on Thursday, August 21.
