School District 46 has secured a new contract with Diversified Transportation for the upcoming school year, aimed at protecting students while aligning with their goal of reducing their carbon footprint.
According to a media release, the transition over to the new contract signifies a step forward for the district. They are moving forward on their commitment to student safety and creating an efficient and environmentally sustainable transportation service to the Sunshine Coast community.
Superintendent Kate Kerr says this is a step in the right direction for everyone and hopes the partnership will bring expertise to both sides of the table.
“Securing this contract is a positive step forward for our district,” she says. “We are confident their expertise and commitment to public safety will greatly benefit students and the community.
“We look forward to successful and productive collaboration.”
According to the district the partnership will reduce the environmental impact of bus transportation by utilizing a new fleet of propane buses and allowing for the use of board-owned electric buses.
The district says they are working with Diversified Transportation on a smooth transition and implementation of the service, and families can expect to receive further information about any changes in the coming months.
