Robbery at Chevron near Woodgrove Centre

Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a robbery at the Chevron gas bar in the Woodgrove Centre parking lot. It happened at about 3:10am on Sunday, August 17.  A man threatened the clerk and made off with cash and cigarettes.

Police got there quickly and brought a Police Services Dog, but they couldn’t track the suspect.

The clerk told police that he stepped out of the store for a smoke break when he was confronted by a man from behind. The suspect held something up against his back and told him to go inside and take money from the safe. The safe is on a timer, so the suspect hid in the store while the clerk served several customers. The suspect threatened to hurt the clerk if he told anyone he was in the store. After the customers left, the suspect took money from the safe and then broke into the cigarette dispenser with tools he has brought along.

The suspect is white and approximately 5 ft. 7. He was wearing a blue mask, blue jeans, black dressy coat, work boots and gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Brett Squire of the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you want to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
