HUMPBACK WHALE

Humpback Whales can grow to 17 metres and weigh 36000 kg.  Their Pectoral fins can be 1/3 of their body length.

They are covered with funny looking know structures called tubercles and provide a sensory tool for the whale, much like a cats whiskers.

Half the Year they spend in cold waters, the other half of the year they go to warmer shallower waters with their young and for mating.

There is not an ocean in the world that does not have humpback whales.  They feed on plankton, tiny crustaceans like krill and schooling fish.  They can eat a ridiculous amount! up to 1360 kg or 3000lbs or the average weight of a T oyota Corolla!
