Male Cardinal Meadowlark Dragonfly

These dragonflies are characterized by the bright, red body and head with a brown thorax.  Many dragonflies perch, and wait for pray to come to them, the Cardinal Meadowlark is one of those.

Cardinal Meadowlarks live from Southern British Columbia, to Chile and Argentina in the South America, and can be found in Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

On a hot day they point their abdomen to the sun to cool down. They can see 360° and often return to the same perch over and over again where they have caught bugs.
