Heavy volume traffic delays BC Ferries sailings Monday

Two BC Ferries vessels are behind schedule on Monday because of the time taken to load and unload with a heavy volume of traffic.

Delays are affecting the Queen of Cowichan, which departed Nanaimo 38 minutes behind schedule for its 3:20 pm sailing to Horseshoe Bay.

The Queen of Coquitlam was also affected, having left Horseshoe Bay 71 minutes late for Langdale on its 2:10 pm sailing. This sailing was also affected because of earlier congestion at the Horseshoe Bay terminal.

BC Ferries says they’re pushing to get back to schedule.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this sailing delay,” says the company in a notice. “The crew is doing everything they can to get us back on schedule.”

They’re saying despite the delay, passengers with reservations should still arrive within the check-in window noted in the booking confirmation email to maintain their reserved status.
