SCRD reminding residents to cut down on water use

The Sunshine Coast Regional District brought in Stage 2 water use restrictions a week ago but it seems like residents aren’t getting the message.

Julie Clark, the SCRD’s Sustainability and Education Coordinator, says their water treatment plant operators haven’t seen a substantial decline in use.

Clark says the restrictions are necessary to maintain the levels in Chapman lake and avoid the need to bring even tougher restriction into effect.

Clark says outdoor watering using sprinklers, soaker hoses and irrigation hoses is only allowed for even addresses on Thursdays and Sundays from 7:00am-9:00am, and odd addresses on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7:00am-9:00am. All irrigation systems are also now required to have rain sensors.

Residents on the Pender Harbour systems are still at Stage 1 restrictions for now. Check out the SCRD’s website for all the details on the water use restrictions.
