Nanaimo Fringe Festival kicks off Thursday

The Nanaimo Fringe Festival kicks off Thursday night. Producer Chelsee Damen says it’s the festival’s 4th year and it has grown to include eight unique shows.

Damen says the festival is a great opportunity for local emerging artists and the festival acts as a gathering place for performers.

Each show plays six times of the course of the festival. There are shows and performances at the Harbour City Theatre, Nanaimo Museum and Vault Café.

Damen says Nanaimo is now part of the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit, which begins on the east coast and works its way across the country.

The Nanaimo Fringe Festival runs until August 24. Check out the website for all the details.
