The Oceanside Generals have a new coach behind the bench. Bill Bestwick will be overseeing the team for the first time when they hit the ice at 7:30pm against the Peninsula Panthers on Friday, January 3.

The Nanaimo City Councillor has taken over from former coach Dan Lemmon. Bestwick was recently let go as coach of the Victoria Grizzlies. Bestwick says he’s excited about the new gig, which he has signed on to for at least the remainder of the season. Bestwick says he’s looking forward to building up the Junior B team’s confidence. The Generals have scored only four wins in 33 games so far this season.

Bestwick has also signed on as a Senior Advisor for the Nanaimo Clippers. The Clippers are playing the Silverbacks on Friday night at 7:00pm in Salmon Arm.
