Nanaimo Bastion shooting sends one to the hospital

Nanaimo RCMP are seeking witnesses or information about a shooting in downtown Nanaimo this weekend that sent one man to hospital.

A 39 year-old man was shot at around 8pm on Saturday by the Coast Bastion hotel. 

Community safety officers were flagged down by the victim, who was bleeding heavily.

First responders from BCEHS, Fire, and RCMP attended. 

He was transported to the hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made and the firearm has not been located.

Anyone with information, photos, or dashcam footage of the area of 11 Bastion St between 7:30-8pm on Saturday is asked to call the RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
