Another medieval-style weapon has been taken off Nanaimo’s streets, following the recent axe and crossbow attacks.

In Port Place’s parking lot on March 13th around 7pm, a 32 year-old man was allegedly threatening Nanaimo residents with a toy bow with a hypodermic needle loaded in.

Officers attended and chased the individual, eventually arresting him.

He is currently being held in custody awaiting a judicial bail hearing. He’s charged with assaulting a police officer, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, uttering threats and resisting arrest.

He has been remanded into custody until his hearing on March 28th.
