Costco reopening Friday after bomb threat

Costco in Nanaimo is set to reopen today after a bomb threat shut down the store on Thursday afternoon.
Nanaimo RCMP evacuated the store after the threat was called in just after 2:00pm. They brought in a police dog trained to look for explosives and searched the interior and exterior of the building.
The search took hours and police had to ask residents to stop calling their non-emergency phone line to ask when the store would reopen.
Nanaimo RCMP didn’t find anything suspicious and the search wrapped up around 8:00pm, but their investigation is continuing.
The bomb threat followed a similar threat called in to the Departure Bay 7-Eleven on Friday, August 1.
