Wanted man from Alberta arrested in Nanaimo

A 48-year-old man from Alberta wanted on charges including Kidnapping and Forcible Confinement was arrested in Nanaimo on Wednesday night.

A Canada-wide warrant had been issued for David James Rogerson. He was wanted on 11 charges, stemming from an alleged kidnapping case in Fox Creek, Alberta.

Rogerson was detained as he drove off the ferry at the Departure Bay ferry terminal at 10:30pm.

Someone on the ferry contacted police after recognizing Rogerson, who was driving a Black Jeep Cherokee with Alberta plates. Working closely with BC Ferries, plain clothes officers got on the ferry when it arrived in Nanaimo. As he drove off the ferry, officers staged a road block, stopped his vehicle and took him into custody.
