Everyone who’s downloaded the Voyent Alert! app will receive an emergency test alert next week.
On Oct. 25 at 10:25 am, registered users will receive the test via SMS text, phone call, email or as a notification through the app.
The annual test ensures the system is working in case of an actual emergency.
“Whether it be an extreme weather event notice or an evacuation, it is critical residents stay informed,” says Mayor Leonard Krog. “To receive timely and clear communication, I encourage all residents to sign up for Voyent Alert! as part of your emergency preparation.”
The city is considering using the app to push non-emergency notifications in the future, such as weather advisories, park closures or more.
So far, over 30,000 people have registered for the service.
