Comes into this world as a tan boring looking caterpillar that slowly turns into a big juicy green caterpillar with a brown head. A caterpillar will eat 86,000 times their weight in under 2 months!!! Adults grow to 6” across and live for just under a week, with a vestibule mouth, meaning they don’t eat for the entirety of their adult life and females will spend the rest of their lives laying eggs, while males are able to mate more than once, often travelling miles to find females.
