An accident at the Touch-Free Car Wash on Nicol Street last night drew a crowd.
A large explosion/crash was heard at around 9:10pm, drawing resident and RCMP attention.
The driver ran from the scene, with police searching for them.
The railing has smashed through the windshield of the car. The car also damaged a machine used by the car wash.
Witnesses and nearby residents believe speed and alcohol were a factor.

There was a small grass fire caused by the accident, but it did not spread thanks to the work of the Nanaimo Fire Department.
This morning, the car was no longer there.
An update will be made available when the RCMP’s investigation is released.
