Charges laid in Nanaimo Port Place weekend stabbing

A middle-aged woman has had charges laid against her after a stabbing this weekend.

51 year-old Kimberly Lewis of Nanaimo was charged with aggravated assault after she stabbed a 27 year-old man on Sunday.

RCMP were called to Port Place Mall on Sunday at around 9:30am, and attended to a man near the mall with ‘apparent stab wounds to his head.’ Police, then EHS provided first aid. He was transported to the hospital where he has remained, his condition reportedly stable.

“Investigators are now tasked with attempting to understand why this happened and if there was an conflict between the two that may have precipitated the incident,” said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
