House party in Sechelt leads to impaired driving suspensions for 3 young drivers

Sunshine Coast RCMP say they’re disappointed in some of the behavior they saw after a large house party on Tillicum Bay Road in Sechelt.
Police got a call from someone worried about possible impaired drivers as the party was breaking up at around 2:30 Sunday morning.
RCMP responded with a roadside check nearby and withing 22 minutes they’d suspended 3 drivers between the ages of 18 and 21 and impounded their vehicles.
RCMP say 2 had open liquor in their cars and a third, an 18 year old man, pulled up with a smashed windshield and the rear bumper dragging on the ground.
He had 4 passengers in his car, and 2 more in the trunk.
Police also went to the house itself.  Where they started calling parents and taxis.  They say about 30 vehicles were left overnight, suggesting other potential-impaired drivers were prevented from getting behind the wheel.
Constable Harrison Mohr says, “We see a lot of young people getting the message about drinking and driving, and using designated drivers. That’s why Saturday night was so disheartening for us. These drivers endangered the lives of themselves and others, and they give other young drivers a bad name. Their behaviour won’t be tolerated.”
