RCMP say intoxicated teen was behind the wheel of van that hit bleachers at Sechelt Park

Sunshine Coast RCMP are saying an impaired teenager was behind the wheel of a minivan that crashed into the bleachers at a Sechelt ball field.
The accident happened Friday evening, just as a game was getting underway.  The van completely destroyed a section of the bleachers, but luckily the worst injuries were scrapes and bruises.
RCMP say the driver was a 15 year old girl.  She had a 17 year old passenger.
Witnesses say she lost control of the van as she was turning onto Dolphin Street from Ocean Avenue and tried to avoid a cyclist.
The girl failed a roadside screen, and was arrested for impaired driving.  She also faces charges of failing to provide a breath sample, and mischief under 5-thousand dollars.  On top of that she got a ticket for driving without a license.

Constable Harrison Mohr of Sunshine Coast RCMP says, “This is obviously an alarming incident for several reasons. This girl was not only too young to be driving in the first place, but for her to get behind the wheel while she was intoxicated was a very dangerous choice to make. It is amazing that no one was hurt or killed.”
