Leadercast investigation to be debated behind closed doors

The debate over the Leadercast cancellation isn’t fading… but it is going behind closed doors.
Nanaimo Council’s move to stop the VICC from hosting the simulcast over the anti-gay stance of one US-based sponsor sparked an outcry. It led to a reversal and a 14-thousand dollar settlement with the major local sponsor.
This week mayor John Ruttan confirmed a re-broadcast is being discussed
Ruttan also says advice from City lawyers was not to talk about a motion calling for a full investigation in an open meeting.
That way they’ll avoid issues around the parts of the Community Charter dealing with personal information, employee relations, court action and legal advice.
Meanwhile the man behind a lot of the outcry, controversial Sun News commentator Ezra Levant was back in the city Wednesday to host what he’s calling a “Freedom Barbecue”.
