RDN passes funding agreement on passenger rail

Regional District of Nanaimo Directors have OK’d a funding agreement to bring passenger trains back to the Island.
It’s a major step forward for the Island Corridor Foundation, which finally has a deal with VIA Rail and Southern Railway to get the trains running once track upgrades are finished.
The RDN money amounts to 945-thousand of a 20-million dollar package from the provincial, federal and local governments
