New NPA Chair has Duke Point expansion at top of priority list

The Nanaimo Port Authority’s new chair says he’s hoping to see the expansion of the Duke Point docks go forward
Jeet Manhas was elected Chair for a two year term earlier this month.
Manhas has been on the NPA Board since 2010 as the provincial government’s appointee, and he says he sees obvious benefits to the province from an expanded Duke Point, especially as construction on LNG projects ramps up and companies need to import or move equipment.
Manhas says the expansion is still in the planning stages, and they don’t have firm cost estimates yet, but they’re already working with potential partners and the federal and provincial governments.
He also says the Board also remains committed to its more well known projects: Revitalizing the Boat Basin marina, and attracting more visits to the multi-million dollar cruise ship terminal.
