Wharf Rats have their home back, after $600K reno

Sechelt celebrated the completion of a big project this week, the $600-thousand expansion and upgrade of the Davis Bay Wharf.
The project was started by a community group called the Wharf Rats… with a huge fundraising campaign.
A lot of the money came from selling planks, and a lot of the people at the event Thursday had their heads down as they looked for the brass plaques with donor names.
Marg Pearson chairs the Wharf Rats.
Right after the ceremony a dozen or so kids eager to claim that title as the next generation of wharf rats, became the first to leap into the water (check out the video on Coast FM’s Facebook page).
The Wharf Rats had backing from the District, the Community Forest Legacy Fund and the Island Coastal Economic Trust.
ICE-T director Dallas Smith says it’s just the sort of project they love to see
The District of Sechelt is hoping the wharf will become a focal point for the Parkway area, which also includes Mission Point Park.
