WorkSafe says woman killed in logging accident was a non-worker

WorkSafe BC says the woman killed in a logging accident north of Sechelt on Sunday shouldn’t have been in an area where trees were being felled.

45-year-old Sherry Belle Bennett of Victoria died after being struck by a falling tree.

Scott McCloy of WorkSafe says Bennett was one of two non-workers who were at the private lot in Storm Bay as the clearing was taking place, and the key question for investigators right now is how she came to be in the active falling zone.

McCloy says WorkSafe investigators spent much of Monday going over the property.
