Still no word on when Gibsons can stop emergency chlorination of drinking water

The Town of Gibsons says it’s likely to be sometime in August, at the earliest, before they know if they can go back to un-chlorinated water for the zones impacted by e-coli contamination just over a month ago.
In an update for Council last night, Director of Engineering Dave Newman said the search for the source of the contamination continues.
He also says the final decision on going off chlorination will be up to Vancouver Coastal Health’s Drinking Water Officer.
Newman says the Parkland Reservoir has now been refilled and it’s being tested over the coming days. Once it’s back online the Town can go from stage 3 to stage 2 watering restrictions.
The Town is still working on how to bring the water dispenser at Well No. 1 back online.
