Nanaimo Leadercast controversy came with $20K price tag

Nanaimo City Council’s cancellation of the Leadercast event at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre came with a price.
Not just to the city’s reputation, but to its bank account.
The City paid the Nanaimo Daily News, the event’s main sponsor, $14-thousand to cover lost revenues and ticket sales.
The City also spent just over $6-thousand in legal fees.
Councillor Bill McKay is calling for an independent probe, and idea Council will debate at their next meeting.
