UPDATE June 14
Oceanside RCMP say a man whose disappearance July 10th sparked a major search effort has been found.  The detachment released a brief statement on Saturday, saying “The Oceanside RCMP is pleased to confirm that the 70 year old Qualicum Beach male reported missing has been located, and he is safe and sound. Thanks to the media and public for your assistance.”
Original story:
Nanaimo Search and Rescue members are helping Oceanside RCMP look for a missing Qualicum Beach man.
70 year old Iain Hollier hasn’t been seen since Thursday night, when he left his home in the 600 Block of Alder Street for a walk at 7:30pm.
Holliery has advanced dementia and may be very disorientated. He does not have access to a vehicle.
He was last seen wearing off white pants, a short sleeved shirt with white, pale blue, and reddish stripes and a faded brown baseball cap with a happy face on it.
Hollier is white, 5’9″, 195 lbs, and has a white beard and mustache. He is physically fit and capable of walking a significant distance. A distinguishing feature is that the top half of his thumb is missing from a prior injury.
Arrowsmith Search and Rescue and Police Dog Services were mobilized Thursday night and have been searching since the call came in. Call the Oceanside RCMP at (250) 248-6111 immediately if you have any information.
